Johnny Doughty

Johnny Doughty came from a Brighton fishing family and joined the Navy at fifteen. He then went back to fishing, later working out of Rye Harbour, where he met his wife. He was a lively singer of sea songs and ballads, and Mike Yates recorded him for the Topic album Round Rye Bay for More. In his eighties he was still singing at festivals and talking about his life on BBC Radio Sussex.
