Michael Marra grew up in a musical family in Lochee, Dundee, and became one of Scotland’s most original songwriters. In his gravel voice he sang surreal and tender songs about Frida Kahlo in the Tay Bridge Bar, Grace Kelly at Tannadice and the Shetland guitarist Peerie Willie Johnson. He also worked widely in theatre, radio and television, and toured folk clubs, arts centres and village halls.
