The lit Clavie is carried round the streets of Burghead and up to Doorie Hill, where it burns on the ramparts of the old fort.

A barrel of tar and wood staves on a pole is lit and carried round Burghead to mark the old Scottish New Year. On Doorie Hill it burns until it breaks apart, and people gather the embers for luck.
