For more than twenty years this small Monmouthshire parish has welcomed the Mari Lwyd on 6 January, whatever day of the week it falls. The Mari, a horse’s skull on a pole draped in a white sheet and hung with ribbons and bells, arrives with a party of singers, and the visit ends with songs and food at the pub.
