Helston welcomes the spring with the Furry Dance, in which couples follow the Helston Town Band through the streets and in and out of houses, shops and gardens. In the morning the Hal-an-Tow, a noisy street pageant with St George and St Michael, is performed round the town, and lily of the valley is worn by the dancers and sold on the streets.

Guildhall
The dances start from the Guildhall: the Early Morning Dance at 07:00, the Hal-an-Tow round the town from about 08:30, the Children's Dance at about 09:50, the Midday Dance at noon and the Evening Dance at 17:00. When 8 May is a Sunday or Monday the day moves to the Saturday before.
