Midsummer Common

The fair covers Midsummer Common, opening in the late afternoon on weekdays and at noon at the weekend. On the opening evening the Mayor processes from Wesley Methodist Church to proclaim the fair open and throws coins to children.

Cambridge Midsummer Fair has been held for more than 800 years and is one of the oldest fairs in the country. It is one of the great gatherings of the Travelling and showmen’s communities, with rides, stalls and a civic proclamation on the opening night.
