Henry Burgwash, made Bishop of Lincoln on 28 May 1320, enclosed the common land of the poor at Fingest to enlarge his deer park. Fuller tells how after his death he appeared to an old friend dressed as a forester all in green, with bow, quiver and bugle horn, saying he was doomed to keep the park he had wrongfully enclosed. He begged the canons of Lincoln to give the land back, and when they did the ghostly park-keeper was seen no more.
