Dancing under the yews at Aberedw

Malkin, touring South Wales in 1804, found dancing in the churchyard at feasts and revels universal in Radnorshire, always on the north side, where it was the custom not to bury. At Aberedw two huge and ancient yew trees stood in the churchyard with their boughs intertwined. A clergyman of the neighbourhood told him he had often seen sixty couples dancing beneath them at Aberedw feast on 14 June.
