The City church of St Martin Outwich kept its patron’s day with bread, ale, wine and rose garlands for the singers. Brand, quoting Nichols’s extracts from the churchwardens’ accounts, gives fivepence for bread and drink for the singers on St Martin’s Day in 1517, and in 1524 fifteenpence for rose garlands, bread, wine and ale on the two St Martin’s days, his feast in November and his translation in July.
