Joan Baez

Joan Baez came to wide attention at the Newport Folk Festival in 1959 and became one of the defining voices of the folk revival. Her clear soprano carried traditional ballads and the early songs of Bob Dylan to a huge audience. Alongside the music she has spent a lifetime campaigning for civil rights, peace and human rights.
