John Prine

John Prine grew up in Maywood, Illinois. He was working as a postman when he started singing at the Fifth Peg club in Chicago. A warm review from Roger Ebert in 1970 led to his first album, which included Sam Stone and Paradise. From 1981 he put out his records on his own label, Oh Boy Records. His funny, tender songs were admired by Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan.
