Jim Copper was a farm bailiff at Rottingdean in Sussex and a son of James Brasser Copper, keeper of the family’s songs. In 1936 he wrote the words of the family repertoire into a book, and in 1950 he helped bring the Coppers back to public notice through BBC radio. He sang with his brother John, son Bob and nephew Ron.
