Frankie Gavin grew up in a musical family in Corrandulla, County Galway, playing tin whistle from the age of four before moving on to flute and fiddle. At seventeen he won All Ireland under 18 titles on both. Out of sessions in Galway’s Cellar Bar he founded De Dannan with Alec Finn in 1974.
