Rose Simpson played bass, violin and percussion and sang with the Incredible String Band from 1968 to 1971, their most adventurous years. She then left music behind and earned a doctorate in German literature at Aberystwyth. In 2020 she looked back on the band years in her memoir, Muse, Odalisque, Handmaiden.
