Barry Kerr grew up in Lurgan near the shores of Lough Neagh and began playing at twelve, learning flute with visits from Seamus Tansey. He plays flute, uilleann pipes, whistle and guitar, writes songs taken up by Karan Casey and Pauline Scanlon, and is also a painter. Now based in Connemara, he received the Liam O’Flynn Award in 2020, and his album Curlew’s Cry was named folk album of the year.
