Becky Unthank is the younger of the two Unthank sisters, raised in Ryton on Tyneside by folk singing parents on Northumbrian ballads and Tyne shanties. With her sister Rachel she fronts The Unthanks, whose paired voices have won them wide acclaim, and she sings, plays autoharp and clog dances.
