Charles Parker was a BBC radio producer in Birmingham who made the Radio Ballads with Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger. The series built its programmes from the recorded voices of working people alongside new songs, and it won the Italia Prize in 1960. He later helped found the Birmingham and Midland Folk Centre and Banner Theatre, and his archive is kept at the Library of Birmingham.
