Chris Stout grew up on Fair Isle and in Sandwick in Shetland, learning from the great Shetland fiddlers Willie Hunter and Arthur Scott Robertson. Now based in Glasgow, he trained in classical violin and draws on folk, jazz and electronica, and in 2015 he co-wrote the Shetland opera Hirda.
