Danny Thompson was a double bass player whose warm, supple sound moved easily between folk, jazz and much else over seventy years. He co-founded Pentangle in 1967 and played with John Martyn, Nick Drake and Richard Thompson, and he also appears on records by Kate Bush and on the Thunderbirds theme. He died at his home in Rickmansworth.
