Derek Brimstone

Folk club guitarist, banjo player and comic

Born
29 August 1932
Died
2017

Derek Brimstone came to folk from classical guitar and was nearly thirty when he first sang professionally. He played at the first Cambridge Folk Festival in 1965 and signed to Fontana in the 1960s. He mixed blues and ragtime on guitar and banjo with plenty of humour, and he was a much loved guest in folk clubs until he retired in 2007.
