Dominic Behan was born in Dublin into a family of writers and republicans, and was a brother of the playwright Brendan Behan. He moved to London in the early 1950s and worked as a house painter before he started broadcasting for the BBC and Radio Éireann. He wrote The Patriot Game, Liverpool Lou and McAlpine’s Fusiliers, and he recorded Streets of Song with Ewan MacColl. He died at home in Glasgow.
