Ella Mary Leather collected the folklore, songs and carols of Herefordshire from her home in Weobley, and published Folklore of Herefordshire in 1912. She recorded singers, many of them Gypsies, on a phonograph, and worked with Ralph Vaughan Williams and Cecil Sharp. She also took Sharp to see local fiddlers and morris dancers. Later she helped found the county branch of the English Folk Dance Society.
