Harry Cox worked on Norfolk farms for most of his life and carried one of the largest stores of traditional song ever found in England. The composer E. J. Moeran visited him in 1921, and later collectors recorded him at length. His repertoire and strong, plain style of singing fed straight into the revival, and singers such as Shirley Collins and Steeleye Span learned from him.
