Jake Thackray

Jake Thackray was a Leeds songwriter whose witty, wordy songs made him a familiar face on British television in the late 1960s and 1970s. He owed much to Georges Brassens, and in a deep Yorkshire baritone he sang about village life, bishops, bantam cocks and misbehaviour. He later withdrew from performing, but his songs have kept a devoted following.
