John Doherty

John Doherty was born in Ardara into a family of Irish Travellers who worked as tinsmiths. His father Mickey was a fiddler, as were several of his brothers and sisters, and John also learned from the recordings of James Scott Skinner. He became one of the great Donegal fiddlers, and a sculpture of him now stands in the Diamond at Ardara.
