John Forrest grew up in Australia, studied in England and the United States, and taught anthropology at Purchase College in New York for 32 years. His History of Morris Dancing, 1458 to 1750 and Annals of Early Morris, written with Michael Heaney, made him a leading scholar of the dance’s early history.
