Johnny Handle is a Tyneside singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist whose work centres on the songs and music of North East England, including many about coal mining. In 1958 he and Louis Killen started the Folksong and Ballad Club at the Bridge Hotel in Newcastle, and he became a mainstay of the High Level Ranters.
