Casey studied music in Dublin and sang jazz before Frank Harte’s influence drew her to traditional song. In New York she became the first singer with Solas, then left in 1999 for a solo career that has taken in traditional, contemporary and self written songs. She helped found FairPlé, which campaigns for gender balance in Irish traditional and folk music, and lives in County Cork.
