Known as the King of the Pipers, Leo Rowsome was the third generation of a Dublin family of pipers and pipe makers. He taught the uilleann pipes at the Municipal School of Music for fifty years, made instruments in the family workshop, and was the first Irish artist to appear on BBC television. He died while judging a fiddle competition in County Sligo.
