Matt McGinn grew up in the Calton district of Glasgow and made his name when The Foreman O’Rourke won a folk song competition. Pete Seeger invited him to play Carnegie Hall in 1961, and he recorded eight albums full of sharp, funny and political songs. His book McGinn of the Calton was a Scottish bestseller when it came out after his death.
