Killoran left Sligo for New York in 1925 and became one of the leading fiddlers of the golden age of Irish recording, alongside Michael Coleman and James Morrison. His Pride of Erin Orchestra played Brooklyn and Harlem ballrooms and the radio, he recorded for Decca and other labels, and he helped found Dublin Records. A festival in Ballymote keeps his name alive each June.
