Richard Grainger is a singer, guitarist and songwriter from Middlesbrough, now based in Whitby. He started in the Teesside folk clubs as a teenager and played with the Teesside Fettlers, who recorded his song The Whitby Whaler. His songs tell of shipyards, fishing communities and maritime history, and he has made many albums since 1984, along with stage works such as Eye of the Wind about Captain Cook.
