Richard Thompson helped found Fairport Convention in 1967 and became one of the most admired guitarists and songwriters Britain has produced. With Linda Thompson he made records including I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight and Shoot Out the Lights. His long solo career has mixed traditional roots with rock and a dark, sharp wit.
