Sabine Baring-Gould

A Devon parson and prolific author, he began gathering songs from country singers in Devon and Cornwall in 1888 with Henry Fleetwood Sheppard and Frederick Bussell. Songs of the West and A Garland of Country Songs followed, and he later worked with Cecil Sharp on English Folk Songs for Schools. He counted this collecting as his greatest achievement and left his manuscripts for later students.
