Seán McGuire

Seán McGuire was a Belfast fiddler of dazzling technique who trained classically before choosing traditional music. He won the 1949 Oireachtas and played Carnegie Hall in 1952. His recordings, with their bold key changes and classical bowing ideas, shaped the playing of generations of fiddlers, and he taught in Belfast and performed until late 2004.
