Shirley Collins grew up in Hastings and became a central voice of the English folk revival. In the 1950s she travelled the American South with Alan Lomax collecting songs, and her records with her sister Dolly, among them Anthems in Eden, joined old songs to early music. After decades away from singing she returned in 2016 with Lodestar.
