Contra dances
A contra dance is a social dance in which couples form long lines and follow a sequence of figures called by a caller. While it shares the lively, participatory nature of a ceilidh, contra dancing is more structured and pattern-based, with dancers moving through a repeating sequence and changing partners and neighbours as the dance progresses. Contra dances typically use a repertoire of established figures and are often danced to American traditional music
