On the first Sunday of May, Old Style, farm servants from miles around went to Craigie Well, a spring between two rocks near the shore of Munlochy Bay, to secure their health for another year. For a week beforehand little else was talked of. A briar bush beside the well was covered in threads and scraps of cloth left as offerings, and no one dared come without one for fear of insulting the healing waters.

There is a large briar bush growing quite near the two masses of rock mentioned, which is literally covered with small threads and patches of cloth, intended as offerings to the well.
