Thunder and the days of the week

An old almanac of 1556 read the future from the day of the week on which it thundered. Sunday’s thunder meant the death of learned men and judges, Monday’s the death of women, Wednesday’s the death of harlots, Friday’s the slaughter of a great man and Saturday’s plague and dearth. Thunder on Tuesday and Thursday was the good kind, bringing plenty of grain and of sheep and corn. Even the writer admitted he could see no ground for it.
