In Norfolk the cold storms that came about the third of March were called Whinwall storms, after St Winwaloe, whose day it was. A correspondent in 1832 noted that a priory at Wereham had been dedicated to the saint, and that Norfolk people still quoted a rhyme putting him after St David and St Chad.
