On 30 May 1557 a May-game passed along Fenchurch Street with drums, guns and pikes, and the Nine Worthies on horseback each made a speech. There was also a morris dance, an elephant and castle, and a Lord and Lady of the May. Strutt gave it, from Strype, as proof that a Lord and Lady were chosen to preside over the May sports.
