Ballyclare’s fairs were granted in 1756, and the May Fair grew into one of the great horse fairs of Ulster, drawing dealers and army buyers from across Europe. Horses are still traded on Main Street on May Fair Tuesday, in the middle of a week of music, markets and family events.
