Barley Saturday goes back to the 19th century, when farmers came into Cardigan on the last Saturday of April to hire workers and inspect the stallions standing at stud. Horses are still judged and paraded through the streets, followed by vintage cars, tractors, carriages and wagons.

Cardigan Guildhall
Stallions are judged from about 12:00 at the show field by the secondary school, prizes are given on the Guildhall steps, and the parade sets off round the town at about 14:00. The High Street by the Guildhall is the best place to watch.
