Hallaton and neighbouring Medbourne battle over three small wooden barrels, called bottles, across fields and streams, with no rules, no referee and no time limit. It follows a church service, a parade and the Hare Pie Scramble, when a blessed hare pie is cut up and thrown to the crowd. The custom goes back at least to the 18th century.
