A torchlit walk follows the Mari Lwyd, a decorated horse’s skull on a pole carried under a white sheet. At each stop the Mari’s party trades verses with the people inside before being let in for refreshment, then everyone returns to the Square to see in the new year. It is free and needs no booking.

Where
Neuadd Arms Hotel
Torches are on sale from 21:00 and a samba band arrives in the Square at 22:00. The walk leaves the Square at about 22:30, calls at hotels round the town and returns in time for midnight.
