Nottingham has held a fair since at least 1284, and geese walked in from the Lincolnshire fens were once sold here by the thousand. It moved from the Old Market Square to the Forest in 1928 and is now one of the largest travelling funfairs in Europe, running for ten days around the first Thursday of October.

The fair fills the Forest Recreation Ground off Gregory Boulevard, with the Forest tram stop beside it. Opening hours change from day to day, with afternoon and evening opening on weekdays and noon starts at weekends, so check the times before you go.
