St Davids Cathedral holds a plygain each December, a service of old Welsh carols sung unaccompanied by parties of singers who stand up in turn. Plygain takes its name from the cock crow, as the service was once held before dawn on Christmas morning; the cathedral’s evening service brings the tradition to Pembrokeshire.
