Slemish car park

There is no parking at the mountain on the day: use the council park and ride from the Silverwood site at Broughshane, just off the M2, which runs from 09:00 until the last bus at 15:30. The climb from the car park at the foot of Slemish takes about an hour and is steep and rough underfoot.

About

Tradition holds that the young St Patrick herded sheep on Slemish while he was a slave in Ireland. Every St Patrick’s Day thousands of people climb the mountain as a pilgrimage, and the council runs the day with music, Irish dancing and family activities at the foot of the hill.
