St Davids Penknife Club runs an annual pancake race in the middle of the city on Shrove Tuesday, the last day before Lent, when households used up their eggs and fat in pancakes before the fast. Children race first and then adults, each runner tossing a pancake in a frying pan, and afterwards there may be more pancakes in the Bishops and the Farmers.
