Mown grass in Clee church

On Trinity Sunday, the feast of dedication, Clee church was strewn with fresh mown grass. George Oliver wrote in 1829 that an unnamed pious woman had left the churchwardens three acres of land on condition that they provided the grass each year. The wake had once been held in the churchyard for the whole week following.

On the feast Sunday the Church is gaily strewed with fresh mown grass, the fragrance of which is extremely grateful
